Philip “Brave” Davis has served as the Fifth Prime Minister of The Bahamas since September 17, 2021, and concurrently holds the role of Minister of Finance. Prior to becoming Prime Minister, Davis held senior leadership roles within government: he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works & Urban Development from 2012 to 2017, then Leader of the Opposition from May 2017 until his election victory in 2021. A distinguished jurist, he was called to the Bar in 1975, served as President of the Bahamas Bar Association, and received the title of King’s Counsel in 2015. He also contributed regionally as a former Council of Legal Education member and Council of Legal Education for CARICOM. Prime Minister Davis is widely recognized for his advocacy on behalf of Small Island Developing States, especially on climate justice, and for spearheading initiatives in digital asset policy and national infrastructure modernization.
